Method

LSI’s methodogical approach is communicative, effective and simple. Students speak 80% and the trainer 20% of the seminar time. This 80-20 formula is our quality mark. The implementation of 80-20 is based on the following seminar model.

Block 1 - Small Talk

The business small talk discusses job-, company- and industry-related topics with words, phrases and grammar rules that have already been introduced. The discussion practises speaking freely and spontaneously in full sentences – just like in real life. The trainer moderates the conversation with individually posed and spontaneous questions. Students discuss with the trainer or among themselves. Knowledge gaps and mistakes are visualised, corrected and discussed if necessary.

Block 2 - Written revision

The written revision is a combination of practising words and phrases that have been introduced and the current grammar topic. Every student translates 6 – 8 German sentences into the foreign language. The trainer compares the translation on the board, corrects and explains.

Block 3 - Oral grammar revision

The oral revision strengthens the current grammar topic. Students revise, explain and support the rules with their own examples.

Block 4 - New topics

Based on the concept the trainer introduces new topics using examples, rules or texts.

Block 5 - Speaking exercises

Speaking exercises consist of monologues, dialogues, discussions and presentations about job-, company- and industry-related topics. They practise speaking freely and spontaneously in full sentences – just like in real life. Speaking exercises are the focal point of the seminar and take up most of the seminar time by far. The trainer is at hand to give help.

Block 6 - Small Talk – Feedback

The small talk as feedback about the seminar provides another opportunity to speak freely, spontaneously and in full sentences. Students evaluate the seminar and their progress.
